(Crookston, Minn.)- Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, Inc. announced today that the Tri-Valley Summer Kid Bus will again be available to families of Crookston and Thief River Falls from June through August. For the last three years, Tri-Valley Heartland Express (T.H.E. Bus) has offered the low cost, reliable way for children and families to participate in summer activities.
T.H.E. Bus offers round trip, curb to curb service for children and a sense of security for parents. All children are given an identifying lanyard from Tri-Valley for the drivers to identify the child. The lanyard also serves as a tool for the activities directors and coaches to identify the kids who need to get on T.H.E. Bus after activities.
Parents can sign up now to reserve their child’s seat. To purchase the service, a parent must call or stop into the transit facility in Crookston (located at 1345 Fairfax Ave.) or in Thief River Falls (located at 523 Brazen Ave., west fairgrounds builiding) with the child’s activities, time of activities, and pick-up/drop-off locations. Marcia Haglund of T.H.E. Bus says, “This program continues to grow each year, so the sooner parents sign their kids up the better.” Haglund also said scheduling for the Summer Kid Bus will be detailed by Thursday, June 7th due to most summer activities starting on Monday, June 11th in Crookston. Jennifer Booth of Thief River said scheduling for the Summer Kid Bus will be detailed by Thursday, May 31st due to most summer activities starting on Monday, June 4th in Thief River Falls. Parents will be notified as soon as the schedule is ready. The drivers are on a tight schedule so parents are asked to have their kids watching and waiting for T.H.E. Bus to pick them up. If a cancelation is needed, a 30 minute notice is asked of parents to keep T.H.E. Bus on schedule.
