SENIOR PROGRAMS

Caring Companion

Caring Companion volunteers may be the difference between self-reliance and mere survival.  With your assistance, older people receive extra help so they can remain independently in their own homes without premature nursing home placement.  Counties served are Clay, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau.  To help be a friend to a senior in your community call 800-584-7020 or 218-281-5832 and ask for the Senior Companion Program or email marley.melbye@tvoc.org.

Foster Grandparent

Foster Grandparent volunteers share their experiences and talents to improve the lives of children in need.  You can help children develop the skills, confidence, and strength to succeed in life.  Foster Grandparents make their neighborhoods stronger by helping children with special/exceptional needs achieve their goals.  Foster Grandparents are placed in non-profit settings such as public/private schools, daycare centers, development achievement centers and juvenile centers. HEAD START

Head Start Parent Committee

The Parent Committee is made up of parents or guardians of enrolled Head Start/Early Head Start children at the center. If you are interested in volunteering, you may contact a Recruiter and Family Advocate or the Center Manager.  There are a number of ways to donate your time.  You can work in your child’s classroom or you might have a skill you would like to share.  Whatever you choose to do to help will be appreciated and will bring more services to your Head Start Center. Comité de Padres de Head Start

El Comité de Padres está compuesto por los Padres de niños matriculados en el Centro de Head Start/ Head Start Temprano. Si usted está interesado en ser voluntario, favor comunicarse con el Reclutador y Asistente Familiar o el Gerente del Centro.  Hay varias maneras en que usted puede donar su tiempo.  Usted puede trabajar en el salón escolar de su hijo o quizás usted tiene una destreza que quisiera compartir con otros.  Cualquier cosa que usted escoja para ayudar será apreciada y brindará más servicios para su centro de Head Start.

TRANSPORTATION

Rural Transportation Collaborative (RTC)

RTC is a curb to curb, mileage based public transportation volunteer driver program. People are transported for medical, dental, court, visitations and other approved purposes. RTC works with the volunteer drivers and their availability for scheduling the rides. The core service area is Polk, Red Lake, Pennington, Norman, Mahnomen, Marshall and Kittson counties. We have working agreements with multiple other counties and have provided transportation to customers that have appointments as far as Minneapolis, Rochester as well as many North Dakota destinations. Volunteer drivers get reimbursed mileage for the miles they drive with their own vehicles. For more information please call 866-884-2695 or email Marcia at marcia@tvoc.org.
