Mental Health and Disability Services

Head Start, by design, includes children with special needs.  If children require any special attention in education or health, staff will work with parents to find the best ways to meet the child’s needs.  We work with local school districts and submit referrals through the statewide Help Me Grow system to coordinate services for children with special needs.   We actively recruit children with disabilities.

MENTAL HEALTH CONSULTANTS

One of Head Start’s goals is to promote good mental health for children, parents, and staff.  For this reason, a Mental Health Consultant serves Tri-Valley Head Start Centers.  This person helps classroom staff create a positive classroom and work environment for both children and adults.  He/she can also help teachers and parents work together to solve serious behavior problems and help families.
