Financial Literacy

Tri-Valley offers information and assistance to help clients achieve financial stability by providing the Family Assets for Independence in Minnesota (FAIM) program and variety of financial trainings based on the Four Cornerstones of Financial Literacy and Your Money Your Goals curriculum.  FAIM programs are matched savings project to help Minnesota low-wage earners build assets through the purchase of a home, pursuit of higher education, or launching of a small business.

Family Assets for Independence in Minnesota (FAIM) – The FAIM program helps people change spending and savings behavior, including debt reduction. Participants are required to attend 12 hours of financial education classes and an additional 10 hours of asset specific (for example, those wanting to purchase a home have to receive 12 hours of financial education as well as 10 hours of homebuyer education).

Four Cornerstones of Financial Literacy – The Four Cornerstones of Financial Literacy program was written and developed by Darryl Dahlheimer through a federal grant administered by the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Office of Economic Opportunity and in partnership with the Minnesota Community Action Partnership. The financial coaches are not intended to provide any specific legal, tax, or investment service, but rather they strive to provide resources and a road map for helping people find their way to financial well-being.

Your Money, Your Goals – The Your Money Your Goals program is to assist in having a money conversation with clients. Financial coaches are trained to work with small groups and individuals to explore economic issues.
