Katie Clubb, M.D., was recognized with the prestigious Plate of Bounty Award at the National AgFamilies Head Start Association conference, held March 11 in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Established in 1999 by the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association—now known as the National AgFamilies Head Start Association—the Plate of Bounty Award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to migrant and seasonal farmworker families. The award recognizes extraordinary dedication and service to these communities.
Dr. Clubb has demonstrated exceptional commitment through her long-standing volunteer partnership with Tri-Valley Opportunity Council’s Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Program in Owatonna, MN. For more than 18 years, she has volunteered each migrant season to provide free physical exams, well-baby checks, developmental assessments, and medical consultations to children and families enrolled in the program.
Bringing her pediatric expertise from Mayo Clinic directly to families, Dr. Clubb serves individuals who often face significant barriers to healthcare access. Fluent in Spanish, she communicates effectively with parents and caregivers, helping build trust and ensuring families fully understand their children’s health needs and recommended care.
Throughout her years of service, Dr. Clubb has provided consistent, culturally sensitive care while addressing the unique challenges faced by migrant farmworker families. In addition to pediatric services, she offers prenatal assessments and guidance for expectant mothers, supporting healthier pregnancies and early identification of potential concerns. She is also mindful of financial barriers, working to identify affordable medication options for families who may lack insurance or are new to the community.
Her volunteer efforts have significantly strengthened the Migrant and Seasonal Head Start program by ensuring children receive critical health services that support school readiness. Through her referrals, Dr. Clubb also helps establish a medical home for children during their time in Owatonna, promoting continuity of care and long-term well-being.
Despite a demanding professional schedule, Dr. Clubb continues to return each season, providing dependable care and support. Her unwavering commitment has made a lasting impact on countless families and remains an invaluable resource to the community she serves.
Congratulations, Dr. Clubb! Your compassion, dedication, and selfless care have made a meaningful difference in the lives of so many. Thank you for the kindness and heart you bring to those you serve every day.
